Orofino, ID (March 29, 2024) – On Wednesday night, a car in north Idaho hit a teenager who was riding his bike near a highway.

At around 7:55 p.m. on March 27th, the Idaho State Police began their investigation after responding to the site of the accident on U.S. Highway 12 in the westbound lane close to mile marker 42. The biker suffered severe injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. For around three hours, the highway was blocked while authorities cleared the area and wrapped up their on-scene inquiry. No further details were released in the interim.

Our thoughts are extended to the injured victim and his loved ones. We hope for his complete recovery.

Auto Accidents in Idaho

Orofino, ID - Teen Hospitalized in Bicycle Collision on US 12

The distinctive terrain of Idaho poses particular difficulties when it comes to traffic accidents. Of course, there are plenty of both urban and rural locations where accidents occur in our state, but due to larger population densities, accidents take place more often in metropolitan locations. That said, due to the often-faster speeds involved on winding backroads or long highways, with fewer emergency response services, accidents in rural areas can have more serious consequences.

Accidents may also be caused by poor road conditions. These accidents are more likely to occur under harsh weather conditions, such as snow and ice in the winter. Furthermore, poorly maintained roads might include risks for vehicles, such as potholes and uneven surfaces, which can result in crashes.
