Fruitland, ID (April 20, 2024) – A rear-end collision involving a pickup vehicle and a Fruitland police cruiser occurred on Friday, resulting in injuries to the officer and a 27-year-old suspect from Meridian, who was riding in the rear of the patrol car.

The incident took place on U.S. Highway 95 at approximately 9:00 p.m. on Friday, April 19. The police cruiser was reportedly rear-ended by a 71-year-old man from New Plymouth in a 2007 Toyota pickup, according to Idaho State Police (ISP). The officer was transported by ground ambulance, while the 27-year-old suspect in the back of the vehicle was transported to the hospital by air ambulance, per the ISP. It's unclear if the pickup driver was hurt, but the ISP is still conducting an investigation into the collision.
