Wendell, ID (June 27, 2024) – Officers with the Wendell Police Department and the Idaho State Police are investigating a major two-vehicle collision that occurred late Wednesday, June 26, caused by a driver traveling in the wrong direction on the interstate.  

The incident happened at approximately 10:30 p.m. on westbound Interstate 84 (I-84) at milepost 157, just outside of Wendell in Gooding County. At least one person was pronounced dead at the scene, and officers also reported a number of severe injuries as a result of the incident. However, no further details were released in connection with pending citations or charges. Idaho State Police are investigating the incident, and witnesses were asked to come forward.
