Posted by Attorneys of Idaho | Apr 17, 2024 | 0 Comments

Nez Perce County, ID (April 17, 2024) – A portion of U.S. Highway 12 was shut down due to a multi-vehicle crash reported on Tuesday, April 16, and the incident is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

A semi-truck and a pickup truck were involved in a two-vehicle collision during the morning hours on Tuesday, according to ISP Trooper Cody Davenport. The events leading up to the collision remain unknown, but both drivers required transportation to nearby hospitals. Troopers say the pick-up driver was airlifted to a local medical facility, while the semi-driver was transported via ground ambulance. No further details have been released in the interim, but the ISP's investigation into the accident is active and ongoing.

Our thoughts go out to the injured victims and their loved ones. We hope for their complete recovery.

Truck Accidents in Idaho

Nez Perce Co, ID - Two Injured in Semi-Truck Accident on US 12

There are roughly forty million trucks in operation within the United States. Approximately 159,000 people were injured in truck-related incidents in the past year alone, and 5,000 of them tragically died. Unsurprisingly, these collisions are typically much more serious, given that the average weight of a semi-truck exceeds 10,000 pounds.

As a result, large trucks require more time to come to a complete stop compared to vehicles, and because of a driver's blind spots, smaller vehicle motorists can get caught in the fray. Moreover, truck drivers who frequently spend extended periods of time behind the wheel are more likely to make careless errors on the road, thereby increasing the likelihood of major collisions.

If you're involved in a serious truck accident, you will undoubtedly have numerous questions about the incident itself, the injuries sustained, the medical expenses incurred, and other related costs. Because tractor-trailer and large truck collisions are considerably more severe than the average vehicle collision, it is critical to retain the services of a trusted legal advocate in the aftermath.
