Moreland, ID (May 8, 2024) – Authorities on Tuesday morning reported that a detention deputy from the Bannock County Sheriff's Office was hospitalized after being involved in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 26.
According to the Bingham County Sheriff's Office, the collision happened around 5:00 a.m., close to Blackfoot. Authorities reported that the 42-year-old detention officer struck the driver's side of a 2016 gray Jeep Grand Cherokee, which was being driven by a 50-year-old Bingham County resident east on Highway 26. Officers added that the Jeep's driver was leaving a park-and-ride area at the junction of Highway 26 and 740 West and alleged that the Jeep driver failed to yield to the officer.
The officer was transferred by ground ambulance to Bingham Memorial Hospital in Blackfoot, while the other driver was assessed for injuries at the scene. However, no further details were released, and a portion of Highway 26 remained closed as investigators looked into the incident on Tuesday morning.
Our thoughts are extended to the injured victims and their loved ones. We hope for their complete recovery.
Car Accident Injuries in Idaho
Victims of vehicle accidents caused by careless drivers are entitled to fair compensation for all damages and losses. This also holds true for law enforcement personnel who are injured on the job and get benefits under workers' compensation programs. But depending on the specifics, this might become quite convoluted, and it's almost always more problematic when there are several drivers involved in multiple-car collisions.
Fortunately, our staff at Attorneys of Idaho is experienced in handling collision damage. We know that getting compensation won't make your injuries feel any better or less painful. The most effective method to get justice for what you've gone through, however, is to sue a negligent driver and get compensation via their insurance company. Should the necessity arise, your Boise car accident attorneys will do everything they can to enable you to negotiate and pursue damages for the injuries you sustained properly.
The allocation of fault in Boise is based on percentages, and comparative fault regulations allow you to be compensated even if you had any involvement in the accident. If an evaluation reveals that you bear fifty percent or more of the blame, you will not qualify for reimbursement. Nevertheless, following a collision, you should always consult with an experienced lawyer, even if you believe you are partially at fault.
