Jerome, ID (September 11, 2024) – Police are charging a driver with driving under the influence after a vehicle accident occurred on Tuesday morning in Jerome.
A male adult and a male juvenile were injured when their black Jeep rolled over around 6:45 a.m. along West Main Street on the Exit 165 overpass over Interstate 84, according to Chief Deputy Gary Taylor. It's unclear if any other vehicles were involved, but the driver of the Jeep is now being charged with driving under the influence after a blood draw at the hospital, Taylor confirmed.
The Jerome Police Department, Jerome County Sheriff's Department, Jerome City Fire, Jerome Rural Fire Department, Paramedics, and Life Flight helped at the crash scene, according to the Jerome Police Department. However, no further information about the accident's cause has been made public. The victims' current conditions are also unclear. In the interim, police are still looking into the collision, and officers asked any witnesses to step forward as soon as possible.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families. We hope for their full recovery.
Multi-Vehicle Accidents in Idaho
While accidents involving multiple vehicles may occur anywhere and at any time, some routes and junctions in Idaho have a reputation for being especially dangerous. By being aware of the dangers connected to these areas, drivers may lower their chances of getting into an accident and take the appropriate safety measures. For instance, the intersection of Eagle Road and Chinden Boulevard in Boise is among the state's most infamous because of the high traffic, speeds, and frequent lane changes.
Moreover, the highly used I-15 between Idaho Falls and Pocatello has seen its fair share of traffic incidents. Fast-moving traffic and sporadic gridlock are standard on this section of the road, especially during rush hour. That said, drivers can avoid these incidents by being more cautious and taking preventative action against driving while distracted, speeding, and recklessness.
