Hazelton, ID (June 7, 2024) – According to Idaho State Police troopers, a three-vehicle crash occurred on Interstate 84, west of Burley, on Thursday, June 6, and resulted in at least one fatality. According to the press release, at around 6:45 p.m., an 18-year-old male from Boise was driving westbound in a 2008 GMC Yukon. Meanwhile, a 58-year-old male from Boise, with a 54-year-old female passenger, also from Boise, was driving in a 2019 Audi Q8. The Audi was slowing for traffic in the left lanes when the GMC struck the Audi from behind.

Shortly thereafter, the GMC veered into the right-hand lane, where it struck the rear of a 2021 Toyota Prius driven by a 78-year-old male and a 78-year-old female passenger, both from Eagle. The driver of the Audi was transported by air ambulance to a local hospital, while the passenger of the Audi succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Both occupants from the Toyota were transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital. The roadway was blocked for approximately three and a half hours to allow emergency responders to assist those involved and clear the scene. However, the crash is still under investigation by ISP, and any witnesses were asked to get in touch.
