Fremont County, ID (June 10, 2024) – Reports from officers and local authorities indicated that one victim involved in a crash on U.S. Highway 20 died from his injuries on Monday.

Idaho State Police troopers confirmed on Monday that the 65-year-old man died at the hospital. The incident occurred when the driver and two passengers were in their Toyota Matrix stopped on the westbound shoulder of U.S. 20 at milepost 369. They were then struck by a passing UPS semi-truck while turning onto the roadway, police said. The driver was taken to the hospital by air, and the passengers were taken by ambulance. The UPS driver was not seriously hurt. Police added that the highway was restricted to one lane as officers cleared the scene, causing miles of traffic backups. However, an investigation is still ongoing in the interim.
