Emmett, ID (July 6, 2024) – A driver died on Friday north of Emmett after a collision caused their vehicle to overturn and catch fire, according to an Idaho State Police news release.
The crash took place Friday afternoon at milepost 12 of Sweet-Ola Highway, as officers on the scene confirmed. One driver died at the scene. The Gem County coroner is working on identifying the deceased person, police said. However, it's unclear if any other victims were injured or taken to a local hospital. Lanes were blocked for approximately three hours while emergency responders worked to assist those on the scene and clear the area. The investigation remains ongoing in the interim, and witnesses were asked to come forward.
