Boise, ID (May 2, 2024) – A couple died after a house fire in Emmett. Officials said the woman died the night of the fire, and the husband was in critical condition at a Utah hospital but requested to return to Emmett, where he later died days later.
According to Fire Chief Mike Welch, the fire department received a call of a structure fire around 11:35 p.m. on Monday at 2827 East Black Canyon Highway in Emmett. Welch said that when the fire department arrived at the home, the front half was engulfed in flames, smoke bellowed out the windows, and two vehicles were on fire. Welch said the house fire was put out in roughly 30 minutes or around midnight. Four people were at the home at the time of the fire, including two children who sustained only minor injuries. An investigation into the cause of the blaze is ongoing.
We offer our deepest condolences to the deceased victims' families. Our thoughts are extended to the injured victims and their family members.
Residential Fires in Idaho
In addition to causing immediate loss, flames have the potential to inflict immense damage and serious casualties. First and foremost, sufferers with severe burns should get medical help as soon as possible. Large local hospitals or burn units are the best facilities to treat these kinds of wounds.
After that, you should get in touch with an experienced personal injury attorney who can manage the complex specifics of these injuries if you or someone you love is harmed in a fire in a house or apartment. For instance, there are a few ways to demonstrate that the owner of a building was accountable for a fire. Negligence is shown when it is demonstrated that the defendant did not act in a way that a reasonable person would have under the specific circumstances.
In Idaho, keeping houses safe for visitors or lessees and beyond is essential. Different safety requirements may apply depending on who is wounded and who owns or leases the property. The sufferer may be entitled to compensation if a dangerous circumstance caused the harm.
