The semi-truck collided with a 2017 Ford pickup driven by a 53-year-old man from Cody, Wyoming. The impact caused a chain reaction involving four other vehicles: a 2004 Ford F-350, a 2023 Kia Sorento, a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado, and a 2010 GMC Yukon.

The driver of the 2017 Ford pickup was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, along with the driver of the Chevrolet Silverado, sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital.
