Twin Falls, ID (October 29, 2024) – According to officers with the Twin Falls Police Department, Interstate 84 between Jerome and Twin Falls is back open after an accident closed all eastbound and westbound lanes on Sunday, October 27.
A semi-truck experienced a tire failure while traveling westbound on Interstate 84 near milepost 170 at 1:55 p.m., per local officers and troopers with the Idaho State Police, causing an accident on the freeway. The truck pushed the center barrier into the eastbound lanes, striking a Chevy Tahoe and a Chevy Equinox traveling eastbound, according to police. The semi-truck then flipped on its side and caught fire. The driver managed to escape the semi-truck while it was on fire.
Firefighters took around 30 minutes to put out the fire, according to the Jerome Rural Fire District. Multiple people suffered injuries, but Idaho State Police said there were no deaths. Several Tahoe occupants were transported to a local hospital, while no Equinox occupants were transported, according to police. The driver of the semi-truck was transported to a local hospital by air ambulance.
According to the Idaho Transportation Department, all eastbound lanes of Interstate 84 were blocked for about five hours, while westbound lanes were blocked for twelve hours. That said, while no other updates concerning the wreck were released, an investigation is still ongoing. The ISP asked any witnesses to contact them as soon as possible.
Our thoughts are extended to the injured victims and their loved ones. We hope for their complete recovery.
Injury Car Accidents in Idaho

Idaho is an at-fault state, which means that individuals who have been injured have the right to file a claim against the party responsible for the damage. That said, liability due to carelessness or negligence must be established to secure compensation, and without the assistance of an attorney, establishing liability (or legal responsibility for an accident) can be a difficult task.
Human error or negligence, such as speeding, driver distraction, or getting behind the wheel while under the influence, are the primary causes of the majority of auto accidents. An attorney can assist you in substantiating your assertion that the other driver was negligent. It is imperative that you demonstrate that the other party's negligence was the direct cause of your injuries. A lawyer will be able to guide you through the processes and procedures involved in negotiating with these companies or filing a claim for damages.
Our team at Attorneys of Idaho knows how to handle the aftermath of a crash. We are aware that receiving compensation will not erase the reality of the car accident that occurred or heal your injuries. Nonetheless, we can help you secure justice and ensure that you are fairly compensated by the insurance company representing the liable party in your vehicle collision. Moreover, your Boise auto accident lawyers will also ensure you can negotiate and legally seek compensation for the harm inflicted upon you should you need to do so.
Comparative fault laws in Boise permit you to receive compensation even if you contributed in some way to the accident. The data is decomposed into percentages. A portion of the liability for the automobile collision must be shifted to you if your culpability falls below 50%. Although it may be diminished if it exceeds 0%, you will still obtain something. If an assessment determines that you are fifty percent or more at fault, you will be ineligible for compensation.
