Shoshone County, ID (September 22, 2024) – A two-vehicle crash on Coeur d'Alene River Road in Shoshone County resulted in the death of a motorcyclist, Idaho State Police (ISP) reported.
According to the ISP troopers, on the evening of Saturday, September 21st, at approximately 5:55 pm, ISP and the Shoshone County Sheriff's Office responded to a collision near milepost 19 on Coeur d'Alene River Road, north of Kellogg. A 50-year-old man from Coeur d'Alene, driving a gray 2016 Victory Magnum motorcycle, was traveling southbound when he was involved in a crash with a red 1999 Yamaha XV1600 heading northbound. The Yamaha was driven by a 34-year-old Coeur d'Alene man, who had a minor passenger.
The rider of the Victory Magnum was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin. The driver of the Yamaha was airlifted to a local hospital for treatment, while the minor passenger was taken by ground ambulance. Both are reported to have survived the crash. It's unclear if citations or charges are pending, but the incident remains under investigation by the ISP.
We offer our deepest condolences to the deceased man's family. Our thoughts are with the injured victims in hopes of their full recovery.
