Sandpoint, ID (November 22, 2024) – Police say that a child died following a crash on U.S. 95 near Sandpoint on Friday morning, November 22.

According to the Idaho State Patrol (ISP), at around 8:30 a.m. on Friday, a 61-year-old man was driving southbound in a truck when he crossed into the northbound lane to pass several cars traveling southbound. The truck crashed with an SUV traveling northbound. A 33-year-old woman with a child passenger drove the SUV.

ISP said both the truck and SUV drivers were transported to the hospital. However, the child later died from their injuries. The highway was intermittently blocked for about three hours while traffic was alternated. However, an investigation is still ongoing in the interim.
