Meridian, ID (November 14, 2024) – An unknown number of victims was injured when two vehicles collided at a Meridian intersection on Thursday morning, November 14, per local witnesses.

The crash occurred shortly before 10:10 a.m. on Thursday at Linder Road, just south of McMillan Road. Linder was blocked southbound at Pengrove, and the northbound side of the roadway was blocked just after Sawtooth Middle. Meridian Police Department officers responded to the site, and witnesses stated that both vehicles appeared totaled as a result of the crash, though no specific details about the victims or their injuries have been released. In the meantime, the wreck remains under investigation by Meridian Police. Witnesses were asked to contact the Meridian PD.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families. We hope for their full recovery.

Car Accident Data in Idaho

Even though multiple car accidents may happen anywhere, at any time, several Idaho roads and intersections have a reputation for being particularly risky. Moreover, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) conducted a study that determined that the causes of intersection incidents could be categorized into the following categories:

  • Inadequate surveillance, or the failure to maintain a proper lookout, is a straightforward error that arises when drivers are obligated to glance in a specific direction or utilize their mirrors to execute a maneuver safely, but they fail to do so. This is responsible for the overwhelming majority of intersection accidents, which occur in slightly more than 44% of all collisions.
  • False assumptions regarding the intentions of other drivers: it is imperative that all drivers make split-second judgments regarding the intentions of other motorists. Furthermore, about 8% of all crashes at cross streets are the result of minor errors that are based on judgments about the timing or direction of another motorist.
  • An obstructed view is another frequent occurrence, as obstructions on sidewalks or corners and large vehicles can blind you to an impending car or truck. Visual obstructions are the principal cause of 8% of all intersection crashes.
  • And, of course, distracted driving is huge; the prevalence of mobile devices, including cell phones, has resulted in a rise in distracted driving, particularly among youthful drivers, and at cross streets, distracted driving accounts for about 6% of accidents.

Despite Idaho's relatively low population, it is still possible for serious or fatal automobile accidents to occur on its roadways. Even nonfatal car accidents can result in severe brain injuries, spinal cord damage, fractured bones, and other painful injuries for the victims. Injury victims should be prepared to act promptly in order to secure the most favorable resolution for their car accident lawsuit, despite the fact that the economic and noneconomic costs of these injuries can be compensated through a claim or lawsuit.
