Hagerman, ID (November 20, 2024) – A fatal two-vehicle crash on Monday morning claimed the life of a 37-year-old Jerome man in Twin Falls County. According to the Idaho State Police (ISP), the incident occurred at approximately 10:05 a.m. on U.S. Highway 30 near East 5400 North, just outside Hagerman.

Details of the Crash

Preliminary reports indicate that a 68-year-old man from Gooding was traveling eastbound on Highway 30 in a 1999 Peterbilt semi-truck when the collision occurred. ISP stated that the driver of the GMC Sierra, heading northbound on East 5400 North, failed to yield to oncoming traffic. Tragically, the 37-year-old Jerome man succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured in the incident.

Emergency Response

The Twin Falls County Sheriff's Office, Coroner, and Hagerman Fire Department assisted ISP at the scene of the crash. Investigators have not released the names of those involved as they continue to look into the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Our condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased during this difficult time.

The Importance of Yielding to Oncoming Traffic

Failure to yield is a common cause of severe and fatal accidents on Idaho roadways. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), intersections and traffic crossings are among the most dangerous parts of any road. Drivers are reminded to exercise caution, observe traffic signals, and ensure the roadway is clear before proceeding. Even minor errors in judgment can have devastating consequences, as seen in this tragic accident.
