Bonners Ferry, ID - Pedestrian Hospitalized After Collision on US 95 SB

Posted by Attorneys of Idaho | Nov 28, 2024 | 0 Comments

Bonners Ferry, ID (November 28, 2024) – Idaho State Police troopers are investigating a crash involving a person who was hit and injured along U.S. Highway 95 in Bonners Ferry on Monday evening, November 26.

A 78-year-old man was driving a 2016 Honda Odyssey when he struck a 45-year-old person around 6:00 p.m. The injured person was transported to a local hospital by ambulance in unknown condition. The driver and his 69-year-old passenger were unharmed, however.  The southbound lane of U.S. Highway 95 was blocked for about two and a half hours, with traffic delays during that time. The road has since reopened, though local authorities are still investigating the accident, and no additional details have been released.

Our thoughts and best wishes for a full recovery go out to the injured victim's family.

Pedestrian Accidents in Idaho

Throughout the state of Idaho, there has been a sizable increase in pedestrian accidents, and the fact that these incidents have the strong potential to be deadly or to result in serious harm to those involved adds insult to injury. A pedestrian accident occurs when a car, bike, or scooter strikes a person on foot. The person on foot often takes the brunt of the impact since there is no buffer to protect them.

Even while it would appear clear that a car's driver is liable for these incidents, others could also be at fault. For example, a vehicle's manufacturer or service provider may be at fault if a faulty part causes a driver's brakes to fail. Holding local authorities responsible for issues like poorly lit roadways or insufficient maintenance is also possible.

Regardless, pedestrian accidents may result in a variety of injuries. Typical injuries sustained in these incidents are as follows:

  • Traumatic brain injuries
  • Back or spinal wounds
  • Joint and muscle pain
  • Bone breaks and fractures
  • Superficial injuries and cuts, such as bruises

Even worse, due to their increased vulnerability, children and the elderly often sustain more severe injuries in these incidents, making the aftermath of these accidents even more complex and frustrating to cope with. Thankfully, our knowledgeable pedestrian accident attorneys at Attorneys of Idaho are here to help and counsel you throughout the process of a claim, ensuring you know your rights and choices.
